The Work
The chaos of failure can unexpectedly evolve and resolve itself into order. In this piece, a failed watercolor is molded into a nest for a broken pot. Space in the broken bowl provides a pocket wherein one could place a personal talisman. This is an expression of destruction and subsequent creation.
This piece consists of a watercolor on heavy paper soaked in river water, and then molded into a nesting shape, and sealed with fixative. The broken ceramic bowl is a gift from a friend. Blues and greens speak of a sense of peace.
